Ornate, stylized flowers are interlaced with a leafy diagonal border to create a stunning design in the style of cushion cover borders found in the Cyclades islands in the Mediterranean Sea. These types of embroidered cushions were a means of displaying a family’s wealth and were stacked together so the borders could be seen to best advantage.
Worked in a muted color palette in place of the original bright hues, this design would make a lovely cushion cover or table mat.
