That's a great idea, too. When I need to count out from the center on a design like this, I will run a thread over every 2 or 4 threads to make counting the threads easier. Glad you brought this up--I'll make a short video on this soon!

So, you'll prepare the hem the same way for the drawn thread technique but don't pull any of the threads. Then, hop over to my YouTube channel and find the new video on how to whip stitch and use that stitch on the wrong side of the embroidery to secure the hem. Hope that helps!

Yes, I usually remove the serging if I can't cut it off. Its a bit of work but it makes the hem lay smoother.

Great question! You stitch ONLY through the back of the fabric, not through the front. The only part of the stitch you'll see on the front is the little bit that wraps around the thread bars. Let me know if that helps!

I love this! I'm working on some new designs for inset cushion covers like this because I think they're great when you don't want to stitch 25K sts monster border designs🤪 Plus, you get to add fabric and what's better than a cushion with one fabric? A cushion with two fabrics!

I've been working on a Byzantine band sampler design for the last couple of months as I think these traditional borders make fabulous band samplers and really versatile patterns. Yes, I tend to work one or two elements of the pattern to "set up" the pattern and then I go back and fill in. This way, you don't get all the way to the end and realize you're off by one thread/stitch. I didn't realize this was a unique method--I've got a new border design I'm working on that in doing in this fashion so I'll post photos of it in process.

This looks like a linen counted thread fabric. It should work really well for any of my designs😊
