I'm new to cross stitching. This is my third Avlea kit, and I'm about a third of the way through the full Paintbox design. I loved the colorful design but wanted to cool down the look so I replaced the terra cotta with a blue. I added an outside border of terra cotta and black, to help me count rows in the beginning.
Some fatal mistakes on the right hand side. I stitched based on memory only to complete the right hand row incorrectly. So it's a couple of stitches larger than the left hand side. I decided to live with it as I spent my first 2 kits tearing out fatal errors.
The full 14x26 pattern is a challenge. Lesson one, keep looking at the pattern to ensure your design is accurate. I got overly confident. Lesson two, the floss colors are challenging for this old lady's eyes. The blue greens and reds are somewhat confusing. I paint. So a light alizarin paint is different to me than the coral floss named light alizarin. ?? I used the website pictures to confirm which floss to use and blame DMC for mis-naming the color.
I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has completed this large kit and your thoughts about finishing this daunting project. I plan on framing mine. Ellen

I'm loving the color change you made! The blue is just beautiful.
This is truly lovely! You are doing a wonderful job. Your color changes are beautiful. I love it that the Avlea patterns are so color-flexible! Keep posting your progress.
Hi ! Thanks for sharing and telling us about this project. I always find it interesting to hear someone else’s experience with a design. You’ve obviously done a beautiful job with this. It does look like a dense design and I can see how you need to keep checking on the chart. As for what to do with it, if I stitched it I would finish it as a household textile -
