Hi all! I've just recently finished my first counted cross stitch (the floret border bitkit) which I'm thrilled with. It's not perfect because I miscounted a few stitches but fortunately there are no glaringly obvious mistakes that throw off the whole design. I will still enjoy it as a decorative piece in my home, and I have to start somewhere, right?
I've watched Krista's video of how to do a drawn thread hem which was helpful but I'd like to keep things simple for this piece - is there a video I could be directed to on how to hand sew the hem without doing the drawn thread technique? That is, once I fold over and press the raw edges and do the mitrered corners what do I do next? What type of stitch should I be searching for and looking up? In the instructions that came with the kit it says you can do either a drawn thread technqiue or hem by hand using sewing thread and that videos are available on the Avlea website, but I can only see a video for drawn thread, nothing for just hemming by hand...does that make sense?
I am an absolute beginner in this area having never done it before, so please keep your explanations as simple as possible, many thanks everyone!
So, you'll prepare the hem the same way for the drawn thread technique but don't pull any of the threads. Then, hop over to my YouTube channel and find the new video on how to whip stitch and use that stitch on the wrong side of the embroidery to secure the hem.
Hope that helps!
