Another Avlea favorite! Here's my version of the Peloponnesian Poppy. My colors are a bit more saturated, but they'll work in mid- summer, fall, and in winter! This was a very fun pattern!
Oops, sorry this is late. My hems are a combination of peahole hems (learned from German specialists) AND Krista’s basic hem stitching. Be sure to watch Krista’s hemstitching video — it’s great. After that is learned then you can expanded to “decorated” hem — then look up “peahole hem”.
Your hem stitching on the piece is gorgeous, not to mention your cross stitching. I like your colors as well. Is the darker red Krista's rosewood or garnet? I am about to start Mirabella that uses rosewood, and I am starting to really like it.
Oooh, sorry I'm late in answering! Thanks for the nice comments. The colors of the flowers are 814 (garnet dark) and 321 (red). The Mirabella piece is a beautiful pattern. Enjoy! - Cindy Russell
Once again, you've managed to get me to say ooooh out loud. I really like how the elegance of this design is framed by your hemwork. Your corners are SO special - you really need to write a book so that we can all study your technique. It's difficult to find instructions for hemming, especially for hemming that turns a corner.
In terms of straight up stitching, I'm still working on a large Celandine. I'm nearly around the bend on the gold color, then will fill in the little bits. It's taking a long time because we're packing up our house for an interstate move in the coming months and it's hogging my stitching time. But it's all good - it was still 100 degrees here yesterday afternoon, and I've never been so anxious to wear a sweater! And socks! I really miss proper shoes and socks.
This is really a stunning piece, and so faultlessly finished. I particularly love the way the corners in your drawn thread borders almost look like little round cathedral windows. The perfect frame for a beautiful design.
Thanks for the nice words! I’m totally taken with all of Krista’s designs. They just speak to me and I want to stitch all of them. She is such a talent (and nice person!).
Can you share how you did your hem stitch? Please!
Lovely! I'm working on this piece now. That hemwork is amazingly beautiful.
Your hem stitch is swoon worthy!
So beautiful!

I love your color choices. It has a real wow factor.

Very nice
Beautiful, beautiful! Real talent with color too. A great example of Krista's design talent as well. And the finishing...I'm swooning!
Love this on the linen! It's so elegant :)
