Someone from our church flea market over this last summer gave me this tablecloth that has a Crosstitch pattern stamped on. It doesn't look like I'll be counting threads, but how much floss do I use to cover up the x's? If you have any other advice about stitching on stamped patterns I'd appreciate it :) Wishing you all a happy healthy and productive new year!

Can anyone recommend or know of maybe an online course for learning to hand sew, at least the basics? It would be nice to have more of a foundation and to also understand some of the terminology related to sewing and stitching etc. I can follow a video tutuorial on YouTube OK, but there are SO many videos that it takes me a long time to choose one. Any suggestions/recommendations would be most appreciated! I'm in no hurry to get started or anything, but it would still be nice to know ☺️ Thank you!!

Can you do the hem stitches before folding in all the edges? Like pull up the the # of threads required/desired and stitch that first? Does this question make sense?

Hello everyone, My first Avlea project is ready to be hemmed. I’ve come as far as pulling the thread to trim off extra fabric.
When using the iron to press the edges, I assume it needs the steam correct? I saw it in the video, but just want to be sure :) Thank you!

A picture my aunt had of my grandmother (2nd woman on right with glasses, and my father next to her) and her friends sewing outside. I believe this is the mid 1950’s in Kalymnos, Greece.

Here is my progress after a few days, but I just noticed I think I measured incorrectly 😬 as you can see in the photo, but I’ve never loved doing anything so much before! I’m so thankful to have found Avlea and the art of cross stitching ❤️

Hello everyone, my name is Irene. I am entirely new at cross stitch. I just received my Avlea Rozain bitkit in rosewood. I chose this design because of its simple beauty AND it‘s all one color. I figured it was better to start with one color than multiple because I tend to get overwhelmed easily. Anyways, I was wondering, in addition to the “How to” videos, would this book be helpful to have as an aid in this new journey of cross stitching?
