In Mediterranean embroidery, borders are used in many ways: sometimes worked in a square for cushion covers or table mats, as a rectangle for table runners, or in parallel rows to create a vertical effect. This pattern includes a trio of borders—a traditional border of little churches and cypress trees along with a geometric border and a sweet floral border—all worked in a complimentary color scheme. They can be used as shown to make a modern cushion cover or table square with a boho vibe, or each border can be used individually for the project of your choice—on the ends of a simple table runner, as a delightful pillow cover, or on the hem of a child’s garment.

Please note: The supply quantities provided on the pattern are for working the full triple border square cushion cover or mat as shown.
