The urn motif is found in numerous folk embroideries in the Greek islands. This resplendent version comes from the Dodecanese islands and features lovely, vibrant flowers and leaves branching out from a small urn or vase. It’s bands of pale blue, olive green and terra cotta red are set off by ecru, gold, and brown, resulting in a design that is both lively yet has a restrained elegance.
