A terrific design for beginners, this geometric border was inspired by a motif from a vintage

Latvian needlework booklet. Despite its intricate look, it is an excellent design for beginners because each row is worked in a single color. The simple outer borders frame a striking stylized leaf that is repeated for the central border. Worked in a traditional Mediterranean color palette of deep blue, terra cotta, soft green, and golden olive, this timeless design looks wonderful made into either a cushion cover or table runner.

Finished size: 14 x 14” cushion cover (as shown in photo)

Stitch count: 57 x 167 sts/5950 total sts
