Am I the only one who has been doing some shopping at Avlea recently? I am hip deep in the Evangeline border and will not be done with it anytime soon. But that doesn't stop me from day dreaming about future projects.
Recently I bought the kit for the Byzantine Beasts. I'm thinking I'll make it into individual ornaments that I can give to people at the holidays. I've ordered buckram, and have that burgundy velvet in my stash and between all those things I think I can figure out how to make lovely little animal ornaments for family.
Also, I showed my husband the new griffin embroidery hoop and he exclaimed that he'd love it if I embroidered those griffins. So into the shopping basket it went! Along with the new Pheobe bitkit because I love the colors and want to try the new fabric and because a bitkit seems so appealing when I'm in the middle of a giant project.
I don't know.... I may need to set my Evangeline border aside for awhile and start working on smaller projects to give away as gifts for Christmas. What future projects are you daydreaming of?
And on this subject, who else has noticed that Krista just put up THREE of her gorgeous cushions and the new window pane fabric on the website?! Oh my. I am so in love with the two border cushions in particular. I am itching to stitch one, but have some other projects I need to get to first. But I suspect one of those cushion kits will be added to my stash soon. But which one....?
My Avlea queue is not so nicely displayed and organized. But I daresay I too could be accused of having a problem. A really lovely and satisfying problem though!
Oh, is that all? <she laughs>
Here's my Avlea queue:
Obviously, I have a problem.
Krista's latest video on finishing an ornament is so helpful for me! Now I know how to go about it when I get to making the Byzantine Beasts as ornaments. I also ordered her bitkit for the cross ornament, as I have an aunt who would love that, and who has been sending hints my way that she'd really like a sample of my stitching for her home. It looks like it isn't a huge amount of stitching, so I'm going to try to get it done in between working on Evangeline and the Grecian Griffins.
All you one-project-at-a-time people are having me questioning my plan to put aside the Evangeline Border for a few months in order to work on smaller projects for gifting! Hmmmm. If I keep on with the E border, I definitely won't have much time at all to do gifts. Which might be fine. Decisions, decisions. I'm reaching a good temporary stopping point for the border, and when I do, I'll make the decision for sure. Oh, and I also have daydreams/plans for stacks of cushions. Though first I need to finish the E border, and some smalls, and and...
You're definitely not alone with having a stack of which-to-do-next Avlea projects! But I'm with Debralynn in doing one project at a time. Having several projects lined up is great incentive to finish what I have going. My next project will be a Byzantine Beast book -- but with experimental colors that may or may not work. I'm still working up to pieces that need to be finished by machine (pillows, booklet, bags) and am determined to jump in -- right after I finish my current by-hand-only piece (ha!).
Oh my goodness, I have a rather large basket full of Avlea kits, charts, ground cloth, etc. I usually focus on what I'm working on and don't allow myself to pick through the basket until I'm nearing completion of the current project. When I can't decide what to stitch next, I pull out a couple of candidates and ask The Man, who ALWAYS has an opinion about what he likes best. Right now, I'm dreaming of a beautiful stack of cushions for the bedroom. I can't wait for the fall releases! There are large cushions and an intriguing table runner in my future. My usual habit is to stitch one thing at a time and alternate big chewy projects with little snacks.
