Mediterranean Sampler Finished as a Cushion

The Man remarked that the fabric reminded him of olive branches, so it looked Greek to him. In this instance, I chose the fabric before I started stitching, so I was able to pull some DMC colors into the work from the fabric. This one didn't have it, but lots of quilting cottons have little color dots in the selvedge that make it super easy to coordinate flosses and/or other fabrics. For this, I just pulled a bunch of blues out of my leftover floss canister and did the "floss toss." That's where you literally toss a bunch of flosses on the fabric, stand back, and see which ones speak to you in a friendly way.

I like the way you think and I never gave it a name but I also have a maker mentality. I love to find "solutions" not to real problems, but to ways of expressing myself with designs I really like. I'm also always looking for ways to use materials I already have, but you surely won that prize with your Tuffett. I'm sure everyone in your quilt shop class was sorry they used quilting cottons. And it really looks like new; I couldn't believe it was made 10 years ago.

Thank you, that's so nice of you to say. Right now, I'm stitching the Balkan Bartizan bit kit, and I'm planning to make another box. My night table has become a bit of a clutter magnet, so I wanted to tame that and give myself a happy moment every morning. This particular design is so vibrant, I thought who wouldn't want to wake up to that?

Thanks so much - use your best stuff every day! This particular chair is right by the door to the pool and has often been the target of damp towels. I thought that if I claimed it with a nice cushion the towels might have a chance to make it to the hook in the primary bath. Nope, I was wrong! But luckily, the washable cushion is doing a good job of protecting the leather chair....

OOOHHH! I can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve. I have a gargantuan fabric stash and I'm ready to build a cushion palace. That said, I am very much looking forward to the monster cushions you're getting ready to release. There's something special about making the commitment to live with a project for several months while all of the other projects sit in the queue basket winking at me.
