Hello all,
I first discovered this treasured Avlea site back in the late summer when I had a vague idea about a next stitching project. When I spotted Macedonian Birds I said, "Yes, that is it." A few months later I'm just about done and thrilled to have this ready to gift to my love (who is Macedonian!).
This is my first time working with 30 ct linen, as well as attempting a drawn thread hem. It is not "perfect," but I have developed confidence and am pleased overall. Little note: After I finished stitching, I realized there are 2 floating (extra) stitches in the upper right corner motif (red), which doesn't appear in the other 3 corners. I thought I made a mistake, but realized it is indeed on the chart. Unsure why. I don't think I will attempt to remove them (may induce regret) at this point but retain as a reminder that "life is not perfect." --A little wabi sabi, as the Japanese would say.
Thank you for this - and all the marvelous designs and tutorials! So appreciated 😊
Charming! And beautifully stitched and hemmed. Can't wait to see what you do next! Enjoy this accomplishment. I'm so glad you shared this with us.
The little uneven stitches are when a border doesn't have the same math as the main motif (for example, the birds are facing each other with a one-stitch floral stem between them, but the checkerboard border is in 2-stitch increments); in those cases, a little unevenness is just part of the historic charm :)
So glad you're enjoying all the designs!
Very dramatic. Perfect for your Macedonian!
