My first work over such small threads. It's the 26 count Traditional Ground Cloth in Natural. I bought the scrap kit to get something to practice on, and it turned out there was a piece big enough to do a proper project with, just. Enter Roman Mosaic! I'm using DMC 8329, DMC 924 and DMC 918.
I can't really imagine going smaller than 26 ct. This is crazy small to me! Enjoying it quite a lot. Thanks for the feedback about what y'all do with your small pieces.
After being too tired to stitch all week, I finally finished the last blue cross tonight, filled in three of them with yellow, and got a bit antsy. Started my (modified) border to see how it would look. I think I would prefer it with the red on the inside closest to the blue crosses, but it would mess up the rest of the pattern if I changed it, and it's fine enough to me as it is. I look forward to being finished with this! It was very fun for a beginner to linen, but I did get a bit weary of making blue crosses. Looking forward to planning my next project...
Your stitches are so pretty. I echo the sentiment that, as your eyes get used to 26 ct fabric, you'll find that it gets easier and you can adapt to a higher thread count without much trouble. But, if you don't want to, you're the boss of your projects and you can make a bazillion lovely things with 26 ct fabric. I love those scrap bags! You can try different things and it's exciting to get a surprise.
It is looking great! And you get used to the 26 count, and then 30 count doesn't seem so wildly small anymore. I'm currently doing the new ornament BitKit on 30-count linen, and have been surprised by how manageable that size feels now.
