pin stitch on linen?

I will admit that I tend to use a belt and suspenders when I'm pin stitching. Meaning, I use a pin stitch to both start and end the floss, but I also tend to tuck a small length of thread behind other cross stitched on the back for 4 stitches or so. I can't help it! Otherwise I'd fret too much.

This is the tutorial I watched when I started using the pin stitch. I do use it on linen.
