Oh okay interesting to know this! I’m currently working on my first hem (which is looking a bit disastrous - I’m probably exaggerating…) But I’m cutting myself some slack because I’m totally new at this and have to throw the perfectionist out the door 😉 I’m almost done with it and can’t wait to put my small oil lamp on it in front of our icon corner! ☺️Hemming doesn’t seem to difficult at all. I’m just struggling to be consistent, finding a good sitting position, and how to use my hands. Using both hands seems a bit easier 🤷🏻♀️ Anyways… I saw some other videos of hem stitching and it made me wonder if that could be done before folding the sides so that’s what made me ask the question in the first place ☺️Thank you for answering my question Cindy, I really appreciate it!
You can withdraw the number of threads and do some decorative stitching before you do the folding and final hemstitch. Those decorative stitches (often a 4-sided stitch, or sometimes a decorative inner hemstitch) is done on the "inner" side of the withdrawn threads -- the side closest to your embroidery. If you do this, you need to be sure to bundle (or wrap) the same groups of threads when you do the final hemstitching (what Krista demonstrates so well on her video).
