I've finished the stitching on the Baltic Scroll and am very pleased with how it came out. Now, I need to finish it into a pillow! I've got one of Krista's sewn pillow backs, and a pillow form, so I'm ready to go. Krista's excellent written instructions and video are very helpful as well. My one question at the moment is, should I pre-wash the stitched groundcloth, and also the pillow back before I sew them together? I'll want to be able to wash this pillow cover occasionally and I'm wondering if it will go all strange if I don't pre-wash everything first. But I don't really know. I am about as much as a newbie to sewing as it is possible to be. (And I don't have a machine so I'll be hand-stitching this pillow cover together.)
I tried to add a photo but can't seem to manage it. I'll try to add it in a comment. Thanks in advance for any tips people have!
I always pre-wash everything by hand and block it out on my rotary mat but, as you can see, great minds disagree so there's no "right" answer. Your work is lovely and I can't wait to see your finished piece!
I don't pre-wash because it makes it harder to sew everything together. I always wash my pillow covers cold, gentle cycle shop they're no shrinking (heat is what causes cotton to shrink).
