Pascha basket
I thought about starting the center. The stalls are so small I a afraid I will lose count. I am ordering a new light with magnifying glass. I don’t realize the linen was so tiny. Should I just measure from the edge ? What’s the measurement and I am using two stands of thread right?
Good start. Lovely!
I have shelved the pomegranate as I complete my other cross stitch and started this one
In my rush to encourage you to use the linen I assumed you knew Aida fabric. I don't have any to take pictures, but it would not be difficult to find on the internet. Charles Craft used to be one of the big manufacturers.
You need to watch (maybe more than once) Krista's How to Cross Stitch video. She gives you all the information you need on how to start and do a wonderful job to the end.
How is your Pomegranate progressing?
I appreciate the detailed response. Are You basically saying the size Of the stitch will change between the two cloth types and one is more obvious than the other.
Would you take a photo of the difference between the two clothes.
Think about your linen versus Aida cloth like this - 28 count linen stitched over two threads is 14 stitches to the inch. Fourteen count Aida gives you the same number of stitches per inch.
The "squares" on Aida are easier to see, for sure, but you can train your eyes to see the "squares" of the linen with no trouble.
For me the biggest difference between the two is the aesthetic of the "look" AND what I want the finished piece to be. The Aida cloth doesn't have drape so probably won't work as a Pascha basket cover, but can work very well for other projects including bit kits and runners.
Finally hand embroidery is an art and should give us great joy in its beauty along with a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction in a job well done. I enjoy the peace and patience needed to complete each project and now can appreciate other's work (not just in embroidery) more. At the end of the day I have something to show for the work of my hands!
I'll get off my soapbox now. Can you tell I'm passionate about eembroidery? 😉😉
