Hats off to Krista for her taste in needles! I had taken needles for granted in the past and had just picked up whatever was available in my LNS or craft store. I used to think that they bend anyhow, so why spend much on them? When I got my first kit from Avlea, though, I wondered why she called attention to those John James needles. But boy do they hold up. And the holes don’t snag the floss. And they’re pretty. And they don’t bend. And Krista is thoughtful about sizing them correctly. So that’s just a little thing I never thought much about before, but it sure makes stitching a pleasure.

Found Them! John James Platinum Needles. These are so smooth going through the cloth you will never want to go back to gold or nickle. Supply is limites as John James no longer make them (too expensive to make). The Silver Needle in Tulsa has aquired a stash). They are available at thesilverneedle.com. #24, 26, and 28 . Two needles in a plastic tube $7.75 plus shipping. A little spendy, but they are fantastic.
So glad you find my obsessiveness about tools helpful🤣 I'm super picky about things I use regularly like needles and scissors (I'm currently in love with Kai scissors--just ordered the snips so I'll let you know how those are).
Years ago I was introduced to needles coated with platinum and were fantastic. Sliped through fabric like a hot knife in butter. A shear pleasure to work with. Does anyone know where I might find these today?
Having good tools makes all the difference
So nice to hear someone noticed! I'm super picky about needles and have used John James for decades because they never disappoint. And, once you get used to a good needle, you'll never go back!
